Q: Whats the age requirement to start riding?
A: We do not necessarily have an age requirement as long as the student can follow direction and have enough balance to hold themselves in the saddle. We do have children start as early as 2 years old but the curriculum is different from that of children who are older. We have students who range from 2 to 60+, so please call for more information so that we can find a program that works for you!
Q: What type of clothing should I wear to my first lesson?
A: Long pants or leggings - stretchy comfortable pants that won't restrict your motion
Shoes with a heel-No tennis shoes
No jewlry or baggy clothes
All hair must be tied up and out of way of eyes
We supply helmets-No bicycle helmets please!
For subsequent lessons, please allow 15-30 minutes prior to your mounted lesson time to allow time for tacking up your horse*
"Un-tacking" time after a lesson is not considered part of the time you "pay" for, but it is considered the rider's responsibility. Therefore, please allow up 1 1/2 to 2 hours for your total time at the stable unless prior arrangements are made.
Please click here for a list of stores and online vendors where you can purchase riding attire and equipment.
A: Download the release forms for Five Star and RDLA according to youth or adult rider. Click here to access forms. Please complete these prior to your scheduled lesson. We also reccomend brining water and treat for your horses-carrots, apples, horse cookies!
We accept credit card via Paypal, however, there is a fee
The Recreational Package is a set of 4 and is due by the start of the set of lessons each month
For the Stable Package, Partnerships, Leases, Showteam, and Training payment is due by the 25th of each month and is late after the 1st - a late fee will be charged on late payments.
Q:How do I know if bad weather will affect or cause trainer to cancel a lesson?
A: In the event of inclement weather (rain or wind or excessive heat), for the safety of the students we may find it necessary to cancel the lessons. We will try inform all at least 2 hours prior to their lesson time. If you do not hear from us, that means your lesson is still on and you are responsible for arriving at your scheduled time.
Adults, please print and complete the client profile, adult release forms (both Five Star & RDLA) and the RDLA Emergency Contact Form and return these before your first lesson. Parents please print and complete the above forms, but use the RDLA Minor Emergency Contact and Release form for your child and return these before your child's first lesson. The release forms are to be completed for every indivudual who rides with Five Star at RDLA.
